All visitors to Australia (except citizens of New Zealand) need to obtain a visa or travel authority before travelling.

How we can help:

We can advise individuals and organisations as to whether any particular proposed visit will be acceptable under the visitor guidelines. We can also advise whether another type of permission is needed and, where appropriate, can handle the entire application process. This may include preparation of the relevant application forms, collation of the required supporting documentation and liaison with the authorities. eVisitor for European Union citizens

This is a new visa for persons who hold European Union passports and intend to travel to Australia for either tourism or business purposes. The period of validity is one year, with multiple entries allowed for three months at a time. Standard business visit activities are allowed, such as:

  • attending meetings or conferences; and
  • exploring business opportunities.

Business Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)

This is for persons from 'ETA' eligible countries travelling to Australia on a business visit. Multiple entries are possible, allowing stays of up to three months at a time.

Short stay Business visit (sponsored)

For those not eligible for an ETA business visa, who have an 'approved sponsor', including:

  • a member of an Australian parliament (Commonwealth, State or Territory);
  • an authorised person representing a Commonwealth, State or Territory government department;
  • a local government mayor;
  • or
  • a representative from an organisation that has been approved by the Minister.

Persons applying are required to provide a letter of invitation, as well as other documents such as a letter from their employer and an itinerary.

Short stay Business visit (non-sponsored)

For those undertaking standard business visit activities in Australia such as attending meetings or conferences and exploring business opportunities who are not eligible for an eVisitor or ETA visa. While short-term work is permitted for holders of an eVisitor visa and Electronic Travel Authority in limited circumstances, this is the preferred visa option for applicants intending to undertake a non-ongoing and highly specialised period of work (generally up to 6 weeks in duration).

Applications are made to the nearest consular post, and persons applying may be required to provide a letter of invitation, as well as other documents such as a letter from their employer and an itinerary.
